Users slam Facebook for automatic 'friend request' feature

Facebook
London, Oct 25: World's popular social networking site Facebook has recently received many complaints from its users for its newly added features. Now, it has been revealed in a recent report that Facebook has been slammed by many of its users who claimed that the social network automatically sends 'friend requests' to people the users often want to ignore.

The new addition feature is sending friend request on its own and sometime even sending request to even whom users want to avoid. Users are expressing their views on various internet forums saying that friend requests are personal choice and the new feature is totally against the users choice and it should be removed immediately.

According to Herald Sun, social media experts hint at 'rogue" Facebook apps being the cause for the glitch. Though Facebook clarifies that it isn"t an official feature, the social networking site is unable to explain the reason behind the glitch.

"Verified email addresses sell for 20c to one dollar each so if they are able to extract 100,000 verified email addresses from Facebook that is probably worth upwards of 20,000 dollars to spammers," said Nik Cubrilovic, technology blogger.

Any user can create a Facebook application and Facebook does not check their authenticity before they pop up on the users accounts.

Meanwhile, users said that while developing a new feature, Facebook should work according to the needs and choice of the people rather than making its own applications make choices for them.
