N Murthy wants to be Prez of India

Bangalore, Oct 13: Former Infosys chief, Narayana Murthy, during an interview with CNN-IBN expressed his wish to be the President of India, if all parties agree.

The news came when editor in chief of IBN network, Rajdeep Sardesai on Thursday, Oct 13 tweeted from his personal Twitter account, "Narayan Murthy to Nikhil Wagle of IBN Lokmat: will be honoured to be president of India if all parties agree."

Recently, the former Infosys chief had grabbed the headlines when he commented on the "deteriorating qualities" of IIT students. Mr Murthy's comment received mixed response. While most of the corporate honchos supported Mr Murthy's statement, many people including well-known writer Chetan Bhagat had criticised the comment.

Criticising Mr Murthy's statement, Bhagat had claimed, "It is ironic when someone who runs a body shopping company and calls it hi-tech, makes sweeping comments on the quality of IIT students."

However, with his latest desire to become the President of India with all parties' consent, Mr Murthy might witness another round of fresh controversy.

Managing Editor of Moneylife, Sucheta Dalal criticised Mr Murthy while tweeting, "This is d first time I'm seeing someone propose himself for President with coy modesty on a national TV!"

Rumours had hit the nation in the recent times when it was reported that the Congress offered the post of the President of India to Gandhian crusader Anna Hazare.
