CLT20 winner Mumbai Indians No.1 on Facebook

New Delhi, Oct 11: The Champions League Twenty20 winner Mumbai Indians have emerged as the largest sports brand by leaving behind other franchisees on social networking site Facebook in India with 2.2 million fans in the last 18 months.

The Red Digital, a digital marketing agency, who have created and managed Mumbai Indian's social media presence since 2010, on Tuesday, Oct 11 said that team has become biggest sports brand in social media having more than 2.2 million fans.

"We are honored to be the preferred social media partner for the Mumbai Indians. Red Digital has provided and executed the strategy of integrating social media with gaming for deeper fan engagement on the digital space, leading to this massive accumulation of 2.2 million fans in only 18 months," said Harsh Jain, Founder and Managing Director, Red Digital.

According to the release, the Mukesh Ambani owned and Sachin Tendulkar led team has over three times the number of fans compared to its closest competitor Chennai Superkings with 7.25 lakh fans on its unofficial fanpage and about 35,000 fans on its official fan page. Chennai is followed by Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore with 5.7 lakhs and 5.05 lakh fans respectively.

With this achievement, Mumbai Indians is now the 112th biggest brand page on Facebook globally and ranked number 27 amongst all professional sports team ahead of Manchester City, said Harsh Jain.

Meanwhile, Red digital has propelled Mumbai Indians' number of supporters in social media during IPL-4 and the company is now targeting the 3 million mark in IPL-5.
