Chennai, Oct 9: A new comprehensive security system (CSS) would be put in place at the Madras high court here from Monday. The stepped up security will include thorough screening of public and litigants.
The move comes in the backdrop of the bomb blast outside Delhi high court on September 7, that killed 15 persons besides injuring over 70.
Public and litigants would be allowed entry into the court only through designated gates on production of entry passes to be issued after submitting valid identity documents such as driving licence, ration cards, voter card, PAN card, passport and others, T S Anbu, Deputy Commissioner of police told reporters here.
The litigants and public will be thoroughly frisked by police and would be permitted to enter through the door frame metal detectors, he said.
Closed-circuit TV camera surveillance will be mounted at every entry point. An official communication from the court said that all the gates would be kept open between 8am and 8pm and vehicles will be allowed to enter the campus only if they have the mandatory stickers issued by the court.
