Kingfisher Airlines announces three new international routes

New Delhi, Oct 7: Kingfisher Airlines today (Oct 7) announced the launch of three new international routes from key south Indian cities to Colombo. The new routes, connecting Colombo to Tiruchirapalli, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, will be operated on a daily basis by turboprop ATR 72-500 planes, the airline said.

"The addition of these new routes further strengthens our route network and we now offer enhanced connectivity especially into and out of South India," Kingfisher's Executive Vice President (Commercial) Manoj Chacko was quoted as saying in a release.

Besides Colombo, the airline, which launched international services in September 2008, currently flies to London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, Dhaka and Kathmandu. It also flies to 59 cities in India and has over 325 daily departures with a fleet of 66 aircraft.

Kingfisher flight lands safely after bird hit

Ahmedabad, May 26: A Mumbai-bound Kingfisher flight was grounded today (May 26) at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport here after it suffered a bird hit.

"Kingfisher flight IT-3172 was grounded here within couple of minutes after take off following a bird hit," a Airport Authority of India (AAI) official told PTI.

The incident took place at around 8.30 AM, they said. Passengers of this flight were accommodated in alternative Mumbai-bound flights of Spice Jet and Jet Airways, a AAI official.....
