YouTube to launch 3-D video option

YouTube
New Delhi, Sept 22: The world's most popular video sharing website, YouTube will soon launch their 3-D video option. The website will convert uploaded contents into 3-D. To see the converted material, users will need 3-D glasses to achieve the 3-D effect.

The website will provide an option 'Edit Info' button inside which the user will be able to select the '3-D video' option to convert the already uploaded 2-D videos into it.

Meanwhile, YouTube has been experimenting with 3-D for sometime and experts said that the delay has been due to a general lack of 3-D acceptance and lack of 3-D recording devices.

3-D enhances the illusion of depth perception. To record 3-D images, a motion picture camera system is used to record the images as seen from two perspectives.

Though YouTube's software engineer Peter Bradshaw had made an announcement in 2009 that it will avail its 3-D video option for its users, it could not make the service available due to some technical error.
