Mumbai Blasts 2011: Pvt hosp's come to the rescue of victims

Mumbai, Jul 14: Private hospitals played a vital role in giving treatment and relief to the victims of the Jul 13 Mumbai blasts.

At least 37 causalities were handled by Sifee, a private hospital which started in the year 2005, outside Charni Road station, East Mumbai.

Close to the Hospital is another private hospital, Harkishandas which treated 36 victims. Both the hospital's are barely a stone's throw from the blast sites-Opera House and Zaveri Bazar.

Meanwhile, other private hospitals like Bhatia Hospital (treating two victims), Sushrusha Citizens Co-Operative Hospital Ltd Dadar (treating two), Bombay Hospital each handled victims (treating six victims).

The remaining injured were rushed to government hospitals like Sir JJ Hospital (14, including one dead), St George Hospital (15, including one dead), GT Hospital (14, including four dead), Nair Hospital (two, including one dead) and KEM Hospital (9).

During 26/11 attacks, not many hospitals welcomed the victims and gave immediate treatment.

Meanwhile, an electric circuit was found in the dead body of a person, said the Dean of JJ Hospital, Dr Lahane. The doctor also said that the bodies of the deceased have been identified.

The terror strike left 17 dead and at least 131 injured. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan declared a compensation for the victims of attacks.

The CM said that Maharashtra government will give the injured a compensation of Rs 50,000 while the families of those killed would be given Rs 5,00000.

The Chief Minister appealed and asked the people to co-operate with the government.
