Sodhi wins bronze in ISSF Shooting World Cup

Ace Indian marksman Ronjan Sodhi
New Delhi, Jul 13: Ace Indian marksman Ronjan Sodhi on Tuesday, Jul 12 clinched bronze medal in double trap at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Maribor, Slovenia.

Sodhi shot a series of 48, 49, 48 for a total of 145 in the qualification, before compiling 49 in the finals to finish on the podium. Sodhi was tied for the second place but lost to China''s Hu Binyuan in shoot-off in which the world number three Indian shot one against two.

The Asian Games gold medallist Indian had already qualified for the 2012 London Olympics on the basis of his silver-winning feat in the Shotgun World Cup in Beijing in April.

Wilson Peter Robert Russell of he Great Britain won the gold medal after he shot 195, while Hu Binyuan of China bagged the silver with a total of 194.

Earlier on Saturday, Shagun Chowdhary of India missed an Olympic quota place after finishing ninth in women's trap event.

Asian Games: India wins silver in women's shooting

Guangzhou, Nov 14: India bagged another medal by winning silver in women's 10m Air Pistol team event in Asian Games 2010 on Sunday, Nov 14.

Indian women shooting team comprised of Heena Sidhu, Annu Raj Singh and Sonia Rai won silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol team event. Indian team scored 1140 points to settle for silver behind Korean team.

Indian shooter Vijay Kumar wins bronze in Asiad

Guangzhou, Nov 14: After Gagan Narang, Abhinav Bindra and Sanjeev Rajput, now another shooter from India Vijay Kumar holds the glory of the country in Asian Games 2010 as he grabbed a bronze on Sunday, Nov 14.

Kumar clenched the medal in the 10m air pistol individual event in Guangzhou in China.

However, another Indian shooters Gurpreet Kumar and Omkar Singh failed to qualify for the finals for the same event.

Bulgaria foresee decline in medal tally
