Chennai, Jul 13: There seem to be more trouble for the Maran family when the Chennai police is reported to have summoned Sun Network chairman Kalanidhi Maran for questioning.
This is based on a complaint filed by a film distributor for cheating and criminal intimidation. Kalanidhi is the brother of recently ousted former Union Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran.
The media mogul of South India was called for questioning after the allegations against the Chief Operating Officer of Sun Pictures, Hansraj Saxena has been mounting. Sources have been quoted as saying, “The officer dealing with the complaints against Mr Saxena had summoned Mr Maran, elder brother of former Union minister Dayanidhi Maran, on Wednesday."
Saxena was arrested earlier based on a complaint filed by S Selvaraj who alleged that Saxena had engaged in intimidation and cheating. Saxena had produced the Tamil film Theerada Vilayattu Pillai on behalf of Sun Pictures and later sold the distribution rights for Salem to Selvaraj at Rs 1.25 crore. Saxena violating this contract had gone ahead and distributed the movie on his own with the help of local theaters. After this, Selvaraj had demanded Rs 82.53 lakh from Saxena which he delayed paying. Saxena also threatened Selavaraj on Jan 5, 2011 when he asked the money. The film was released last year.
