Andhra: Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust submits report to govt

Late Sathya Sai Baba
Hyderabad, Jul 12: A detailed report was submitted by the Sathya Sai Central Trust to the Andhra Pradesh government on the trust's financial details and operations.

The report was submitted after the government issued a notice to the trust. It consists the details of its day to day running, activities, members of the trust, institutions run under it, the profession of their employees and their addresses.

The report also comprises of the grants given to the trust by central government, bank accounts, exemption from tax regulations along with the name and details of its attenders.

The government would consider the facts after analysing the report and take its decision on the call from a section of devotees who demanded that the trust be taken over by the government or at least a body be setup to monitor the trust.

On Jun 27, the government demanded that the trust submit its report in 10 days after the devotees alleged of financial irregularities by some members of the trust.

The trust has been under scanner after the demise of Sathya Sai Baba on Apr 24.

Three people were arrested after a car containing Rs 35 lakh was seized by the police. Revelations came out that the arrested were acting on the orders of two trust members, who told them to transfer the money from Puttaparthi to Bangalore.

Rubbishing all allegations, the trust claimed that the money was being transported to build the Sathya Sai Samadhi, donated by Sathya Sai devotees.

The police is continuing their probe into the vast empire of late Sathya Sai Baba.
