PM directs Mukul Roy to visit derailment site in Assam

New Delhi, July 11: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Jul 11) directed Minister of State for Railways Mukul Roy to visit the site of a train derailment in Rangia in Assam following a blast in which at least 50 passengers were injured.

The direction came a day after the blast that took place near Rangia in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district last evening, PMO sources said.

At least 50 passengers were injured as six coaches of Guwahati-Puri Express derailed following the blast The Prime Minister holds the portfolio of Railways in absence of a cabinet minister.

UP train mishap: Death toll rises to 53, rescue operations on

Fatehpur (UP), Jul 11: The toll in Sunday's derailment here went up to 53 with 15 more bodies, including that of a Swedish national, being recovered from the mangled compartments of the ill-fated Delhi-bound Kalka Mail."53 bodies, including that of a Swedish national, have been recovered so far. West Bengal: Jnaneshwari Exp hits buffer, 5 injured

Kolkata, May 14: At least five persons were injured when 2101 Down Jnaneswari Express hit the buffer of a platform, while entering Howrah station today. Railway officials said the train hit the buffer of platform number 20 at about 0530 hours adding that the passengers were in the train.
