WB: No stop to Baby deaths, 26 kids die in 48 hours

West Bengal Map
Behrampore, Jul 10: It seems that ever since the Trinamool Congress took over Bengal, there has been a disastrous effect on the health system in the government hospitals around the state. In a recent shocking incident, twenty-six children have died in two governments hospitals in Murshidabad district since Friday, Jul 8.

Chief Medical Officer Health (CMOH) Shahjahan Siraj said 16 children have died in Baharampore District Hospital and 10 in Jangipur Sub-Divisional Hospital. According to the CMOH Siraj, most of the victimised children, who died in the two hospitals were suffering from respiratory problems, malnutrition, septicaemia and other serious diseases and were referred to these two hospitals from the primary health centres in critical condition.

"There was no fault on the part of the doctors. They tried their best to save the children but it's impossible to save everyone," said BSH superintendent Partha Dey. Siraj also added that a team of doctors was expected to arrive from Kolkata shortly.

This death incident has been followed by another baby death case in B.C.Roy hospital in kolkata that once again thrashed Bengal's medical system. Around 18 infants died in B.C. Roy hospital. Though the doctors has explained that the core cause of these deaths were pre-maturity and septicemia or low-birth weight problems.

But, the outrageous parents of the victimised babies directly charged the doctor for their irresponsibilities and reluctance to treat the patients.
