Kanpur, Jul 10: The death toll reached 35 in the Howrah-Delhi Kalka express accident. Sources informed that the two relief trains reached the accident site.

Government has announced Rs 1 lakh for all critically injured passengers. Many travellers are still trapped. Rescue team continues their rescue operation.

Howrah-Delhi train: Kalka mail derails, 11 dead,many injured:

Atleast 11 people were feared dead and many were injured in the massive train accident as 13 bogies of the Kalka express mail, which was going from Howrah to Delhi, derailed on Sunday, Jul 10.

The mishap occurred 65 km away from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The train was travelling at a speed of 110 km/hr speed at the time of the accident. Sources claimed that the train derailed following the sudden use of the emergency breaks. The experts however rejected the claims citing that it was not possible for 13 bogies to be derailed after applying emergency breaks.

Fire and sparks were seen in the AC compartments of the train, as sources revealed. 2 medical trains have been rushed to the spot of the accident site. The accident took place at around 12:30 pm on Sunday when it was passing by Fatehpur Malwa railway station.

The place near Fatehpur Malwa in UP reportedly lack enough medical facilities. Latest reports reveal that almost 100 people have been injured due to the accident, as per inputs available at the moment. Injured people have been shifted to local hospitals.

Other scheduled trains for Howrah-Delhi route either have been diverted or cancelled as the railway route has been disrupted due to the accident.
