Naxalism spreading to big cities: Maharashtra Home Minister

Pune, Jul 9: Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil today (Jul 9) advised parents in big cities to keep a watch on their children to ensure they do not get drifted towards Naxalism.

"As Naxalism is percolating in many big cities, parents should keep a watch on their children," he said here.

Left-wing extremism was a challenge before the government, he said, adding every section of the society should help the state administration in effectively tackling the menace.

Patil was speaking at a function, where he released the book, ''Challenges of Naxalism'', written by Devendra Gavande.

Maoists call for bandh in six states on Feb 7

New Delhi, Jan 19: The Maoists have called for a total shut-down in six states protesting against the price rise, unabated corruption and scams and the Centre's dealing with Maoists' issues. The bandh has been called on Feb 7 and will be followed by a two-day show of protest. The information was released by the party's central committee (CC) on Jan 15.

The statement also added, "our central committee appeals to all the people to observe protests from Feb 4 -.....

Bihar police arrests 6 Maoists; cartridges seized

Patna, Dec 26: Getting information that Maoists have planned to attack the divisional jail in Bihar's Gaya district, state police on Saturday, Dec 25 arrested six Maoists from the area, reported police on Dec 26.

The six, including 'zonal commander' of CPI(Maoist) Bhushan Sharma were arrested when the police raided several places in Rampur on Dec 25.

Besides Sharma, the others netted by the police are CPI(Maoist) 'regional commander' Suresh Yadav alias Chandanji, 'area commanders' Jainandan Paswan, Jitendra singh and Arjun.....

HDK discusses terror situation with Home Minister

New Delhi, July 13: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today discussed 'unofficially' with Home Minister Shivraj Patil the terror threat in the state and sought higher central allocations for empowering the police force to tackle the militants. Speaking to mediapersons after his meeting with Mr Patil, Mr Kumaraswamy said the state had provided full information to the Centre but was not forthcoming with information on the sensitive nature of crime involved......
