Bharti Airtel launches 3G services in Andhra's temple cities

Hyderabad, Jul 9: Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Friday, Jul 8 launched its 3G services in famous temple cities--Tirupati, Nelloe and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh.

Airtel 3G services will now empower customers in Tirupati, Nellore and Kadapa with the ability to experience a host of exciting capabilities on their mobile phones-- such as local, national and international video calling, Mobile TV and social networking--- all at speeds never experienced before, an Airtel release said here today.

Expanding the availability of Airtel 3G services to the state's prominent religious destinations, Murali Kittu, COO - Andhra Pradesh, Bharati Airtel said, "Having successfully launched Airtel 3G services in key parts of Andhra Pradesh, we are delighted to extend the exciting experience to our customers in the state''s famous temple cities of Tirupati, Nellore and Kadapa.

"We are confident that the availability of Airtel 3G across all parts of the state will deliver a seamless service experience for our customers in Andhra Pradesh- bringing them closer to an all new world of possibilities," Kittu said.

Govt allows to import 3G equipments from China

New Delhi, Aug 13: Government agreed to allow import of Chinese-made telecom equipment by leading telecom operators in India.

The decision was taken after Prime Minister's Office (PMO) level talks. By this new instruction the department of telecommunications (DoT) will allow leading operators to import equipments, which have been stuck for over eight months and were menacing the launch of 3G services.

The Dot decision to allow import of telecom equipment after self certification by the telecom operators in Dec 2009.....

Bharti Airtel to take over Telecom Seychelles

New Delhi, Aug 11: Bharti Airtel announced on Wednesday, Aug 11 that the company will take over Telecom Seychelles for USD 62 million.

"The Board of Directors has approved the acquisition deal on Wednesday morning," said Bharti Airtel CEO Manoj Kohli.

Bharti Airtel will enlarge its African footprint to 16 countries and its overall presence to 19 nations, after acquiring Telecom Seychelles into its fold.

Airtel offers Lifetime Prepaid at lowest price

Agartala, May 20: Bharti Airtel, India's leading private telecom services provider, has introduced Lifetime Prepaid at a lower price point of Rs 495 in Northeastern state today. A company statement said that Airtel's 495 Lifetime product is expanding its customer base at a fast pace and penetrating into the rural areas with a view to making mobile phone facility available to the masses.UNI.....
