Baidu gets Microsoft Bing's power to offer English results

Beijing, Jul 4: The software giant Microsoft entered in an agreement Chinese search engine Baidu to offer English-language results.

Baidu, the No.1 search engine in China, said that it will provide English-language results generated by Microsoft's search engine Bing. Baidu said that some English search query will be automatically directed to Bing and its results will be displayed in pages in Baidu's search engine.

"The cooperation between Baidu and Bing will bring into play technological advantages of both parties and jointly provide best search experience for users who need to search in English," Baidu senior executive Zhang Dongchen said.

The new deal will Microsoft to reach out more than 450 million internet users in India. With the retirement of Google from China over disputes with Chinese Communist government, Baidu increased its presence and now its alliance with Microsoft Bing will help to extend itd service.

According to Baidu, the alliance will help it to provide search result for about 10 million English-language search requests a day.
