Three priests, one cop injured during Jagannath Ratha Yatra

Rourkela, Jul 4: Three temple priests and one policeman was injured in a tussle after devotees tried to climb the Lord Jagannath's chariot, said Media reports.

Meanwhile a six-year-old boy was crushed to death after he came under the wheels of Lord Jagganth chariot, Purunapani, Sundargarh district, said police.

The victim, Sushanta Mohapatra was watching the celebrations when he suddenly fell on ground and was pushed down by the crowd that pulls the chariot, said police.

The boy was then taken to Hatibari Health Centre and then to Rourkela Government Hospital.

However during the treatment, the boy gave in to his injuries on Jul 3, added the police.

In a separate incidence that took place in Orrisa, four people including three boys lost their lives during the Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra on Jul 3.

A 12-year-old boy died after coming under the wheels of Dadhibamanjew chariot, Sunthipal, Cuttack district.

Other devotee died after suffering a heart attack while watching the famous Yatra at Puri.

A boy in Balasore district died after a chariot ran over him.

A 13-year-old boy lost his life in a similar incident in Dhenkanal district after a chariot ran over him.
