Maoists release 11 kidnapped villagers in Bihar

Patna, Jul 3: The 11 villagers abducted by Maoists posing as CRPF personnel from Kareili village in Bihar"s Munger district were released in a jungle on Sunday, Jul 3.

“The abducted people were released in Basraha-Chormara jungle near the village when they were closely tracked by the securitymen, led by Superintendent of Police, Munger, P. Kannan yesterday," Director General of Police, Neelmani said.

According to Neelmani, on Saturday, Jul 2 50 rebels in CRPF uniform and armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the village, 200 km southeast of Patna, around 5am. The rebels, including women and children, dragged out the victims from their houses, tied their hands and shot them.

Meanwhile, combing operations assisted by CRPF and special task force in Bihar continued in the area under the surveillance of IG, Bhagalpur zone, DIG Munger range and IG operations to track down the rebels, he said.

Bangalwa Kareili does not have a police picket, despite a long-pending demand of the villagers.

Orissa police arrest three Maoists

Baripada, May 22: Mayurbhanj police have arrested three Maoists, the main suspects of May 8 murder of forester Ravindra Nath Patra in Orissa. The Maoist gunmen had attacked the Sargada forest beat and shot dead the forester under Rairangpur range. Police said the arrested Maoists were also allegedly involved in a landmine blast at Sargada- Chadheipahada Road on May nine. They have been identified as Shastri Nayak of Lado village, Matka Majhi alias.....
