Key suspect arrested in Jyotirmoy Dey murder case

Jyotirmoy Dey
Mumbai, Jul 3: The Mumbai police was able to arrest Vinod Chembur, a key figure in connection with Jyotirmoy Dey murder case. He is believed to have financed the murder operation of the high profile murder of the MidDay senior crime reporter J Dey. He identified the shooters in the murder case.

The police is probing the role of the underworld especially that of Chhota Rajan in the killing of the journalist. The police are also focusing on Dey's London trip that is believed to hold clues to the daylight murder. The Joint police commissioner (crime) Himanshu Roy has been quoted as saying, "We believe there is some relevance to this foreign trip. It was the first time Dey had travelled to the UK. And the fact that he went alone on a package tour does seem a little odd, particularly because it was not an official trip."

The Mumbai police was earlier slammed for their shoddy investigation leading to colleagues and others engaging in protest to handover the case to the CBI. With Chhota Rajan's role in the killing yet to be established, the police are on the lookout for vital clues.
