Rape: Money power won again? Ex-IMF chief Kahn walks free

Dominique Strauss-Kahn
New York, Jul 2: Once again, with the release of former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn from house arrest, it has been proved that the world still has the tendency to stoop towards the money power.

Kahn, to whom the New York court has granted bail on Friday, Jul 1, walked out free as Kahn's multi-million firefighters (read lawyers) succeeded to weaken the rape charge against the former IMF chief over the investigation reports on the hotel housekeeper's allegations.

After the judgment on Kahn, his lawyers took a hand on the media as they said, "It is so important in this country that people, especially the media, refrain from judgment until the facts are all in."

However, attorney Ken Thompson claimed, "From Day One she (the rape victim) has described a violent sexual assault that Dominique Strauss-Kahn committed against her."

"She has described that sexual assault many times, to prosecutors and to me, and she has never once changed a single thing about that encounter," added Thompson.

62-year-old Kahn was reportedly arrested minutes before flying to Paris on May 15 for an attempted rape on a New York hotel chambermaid.
