Not disheartened with Jabera by-poll defeat: Ajay

Madhya Pradesh map
Bhopal, Jun 30: Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Ajay Singh today (Jun 30) said that though he was not at all happy with the Congress defeat in the Jabera by-election, he was not disheartened by the result.

"Of course, I am not happy with Congress' loss in Jabera, but it would be stretching things too far to say that I am disheartened by it," the Leader of the Opposition told PTI.

Ajay said there was a lot of difference between assembly elections and a bypoll in only one constituency.

The prestige of the entire government was at stake in Jabera and this worked to the advantage of the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh, he said.

Ajay said the BJP spent much more money as compared to the Congress for ensuring a victory in the Jabera bypolls.

He said though he has witnessed over 25 elections he never saw a campaign like the one in Jabera.

For the first three weeks of the campaign, the BJP was nowhere to be seen but during the last three days, its people came to the constituency, he said adding that when they came they exerted a lot of pressure on voters in various ways.
