Goa map
Panaji, Jun 28: Goa police force would be put through an anti-narcotics scan by top probe agencies- the CBI and the Narcotics Control Bureau-- in wake of the increasing cop-drug mafia nexus cases in the state, a senior official said here.

Goa Director General of Police Aditya Arya said both the agencies will have a parallel check on the force following allegations of nexus surfacing against many officers.

"We are trying to find out about the nexus. I have asked the two agencies to give an independent feedback on the police-drug nexus and submit me a report after which we will take action unbiased," Arya told reporters here yesterday.

Goa police have been facing accusations of aligning with the drug peddlers in the state. The nexus was exposed after two Israeli drug peddlers were arrested. The cases related to policemen-drug peddler nexus are now being probed by CBI.

Arya said, "the thorough scan will help us to find out blacksheep in the force, who could be weeded out."

"We have to break the nexus. I accept the nexus might be there but we have to catch the people and require hard evidence to nab them. The community also plays a major role," he said.
