Trinamool sees no threat in Tata turf: Singh

Tata Motors
Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), June 24: The legal battle over Singur between Tata Motors and Trinamool Congress (TC)-led West Bengal government would not have any impact in party's poll prospect in Lok Sabha bypoll to Jamshedpur, the home turf of Tatas, TC MP K D Singh said.

"I do not think the fallout between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Tata Motors over Singur, the original site of Tata Motors' Nano project, will have any effect in the bypoll," K D Singh, TC Rajya Sabha member and party in-charge of Jharkhand, said.

Jamshedpur was founded by Jamshedji Tata. Lord Chelmsford named the city Jamshedpur in honour of its founder Jamshedji Tata.

Trinamool has fielded former MP, Suman Mahto, the widow of slain JMM MP Sunil Mahto. Arjun Munda defeated Suman Mahato in 2009 Lok Sabha polls. Suman joined TC after JMM denied her a ticket this time in the bypoll.
