Lucknow, Jun 21: With the rising number of rape cases in the state, the place is no longer a safe haven for women with another case of rape of a 17-year-old reported recently in Uttar Pradesh on Jun 21 (today).
The 17-year-old daughter of CRPF jawan was raped in the morning by her friend's relative. The incident occurred after the girl went to her friend's place for sewing classes where she was allegedly raped by her friend's two brothers.
The girl later committed suicide. The body has been sent for postmortem and the results are awaited.
In another case a 14-year-old girl was raped by two men and later killed.
A total of eight cases have been reported from the state till now.
Earlier a woman was allegedly raped and burnt alive in Etah while two teenagers were raped in Gonda and Firozabad districts, Uttar Pradesh.
A 35-year-old woman was gang raped and burnt by three people in Etah. According to the police the woman was raped when she was at her home with her children.
In Firozabad, a 15-year-old girl was raped and killed by her lover and his acquaintance. Her body was found in a field in Kaitholi village.
A 18-year-old girl was raped at a gun point in Ranipur Beladi village, while another was blinded in both eyes when she resisted rape.
The increasing number of rape in the state have triggered outrage among opposition parties. The State Human Rights Commission now seeks answer from the Mayawati government and the police.
A notice have been issued to the director general of police, chief secretary, home, principal secretary, SSPs and SP of the districts by Vishnu Sahai, SHRC member justice where rape cases have taken place, said official sources.
The report has been ordered to be submitted by Jun 28.
