Key witness in Karnal murder case found dead

New Delhi, Jun 16: With the Karnal murder case getting murkier with some high profile names alleged to be involved, the case has taken a new turn.

One of the key witness, Chamail Singh was found dead in the murder case of the former Haryana village sarpanch Karam Singh. There were widespread allegations by Singh's family members on the state Transport Minister Om Parkash Jain and a chief Parliamentary secretary Zile Ram Sharma's involvement in the death.

The victim had reportedly paid a bribe to Zile Ram Sharma to secure a job for his son. The very next day the sarpanch demanded the return of the bribe he was found dead. The family had suspected foul play and now with the witness also being found dead, the issue raising a lot of eyebrows.

Last week saw the resignation of former Haryana Transport and Tourism Minister OP Jain and Sharma following investigations into the case.

Rajinder Singh, the son of Karam Singh had further accused both Jain and Sahrma by saying that they had cheated his father of nearly Rs 13 lakh for providing government jobs to him and his two other cousins. Rajinder also claimed that they were facing threats for their submission on his father's death and the government was showing no interest in taking the matter seriously.

12-year old girl killed by brother for family honour

Rohtak, April 23: Yet another horror tale of honour killing has raised its head. And no surprises for guessing that it comes from the hinterlands of Haryana.

According to the Haryana police, Charan Singh, a youth aged in the early 20s has been arrested for killing his 12-year-old sister who studied in Class five. The incident has occured in Roorki village of Haryana's Rohtak district and the accused worked there at a brick kiln.

After Jats, now Brahmins seek reservation

Bhiwani, Apr 11: Close on the heels of Jats, Brahmin Aarakshan Convenor and a former AICC member today (Apr 11) sought reservation for the community in Haryana on the economic criteria.

"Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda should take steps to fulfil the demand as Brahmins in the state are still economically backward," Convenor of Brahmin Aarakshan Umesh Sharma said at a meeting of the community members here.

Nuclear power plant work to start soon: PM

Hisar, May 19: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced that work on the nuclear power plant at Fathebad district in Haryana would start soon and described this as a step towards achieving self- sufficiency in energy. ''A site has been identified in Fatehabad district of Haryana and work for setting up a nuclear power plant there would start at the earliest," Dr Manmohan Singh said addressing a public rally at Barwala near here......
