Punjab CM wants Prime Minister out of Lokpal ambit

Parkash Singh Badal
Mohali, Jun 15: While the Lokpal drafting panel is set to meet in Delhi amid controversies on Wednesday, Jun 15, the Punjab Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister should not be included in the ambit of the ombudsman.

Akali Dal leader leader and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal said that Prime Minister should be excluded from the ambit as he has to discharge extremely sensitive duties while dealing with several international and diplomatic issues, which warranted certain norms to maintain the secrecy of office.

"According to my personal view, the office of the Prime Minister should be excluded from the proposed Lokpal in the larger national interest," he told reporters in Amloh.

But, Parkash Singh Badal has the opinion that all chief ministers and the entire judiciary including the Chief Justice and judges of the Supreme Court and high courts should be included in the ambit of the Lokpal.

Badal also asked Central government to take immediate action for bringing back the black money stashed in the foreign banks.
