Breakthrough in MiD Day journo murder case: Mumbai police

Mumbai, Jun 13: Mumbai police on Monday, Jun 13 claimed to have received some breakthrough in the MiD Day journalist murder case. Mumbai Crime Branch team has already started their operation outside Mumbai.

Police released the first sketch of a suspect. After releasing the sketch officially, Mumbai police said that the suspect's age is believed to be between 22-25.

Many people, including underworld informants, have been questioned by the Mumbai police . The slain veteran journalist Jyotirmoy Dey was an investigative crime reporter working with the daily MiD Day.

Dey was brutally killed outside his Mumbai residence on Saturday, Jun 11. The journalist sustained five bullet injuries and was declared dead in hospital.

Citing the dire consequences of Dey, Mumbai journalists held a protest march in the city on Monday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan also hinted some mafia connection in the murder case.

Police conducted a search in Dey's personal laptop, files. The investigation team also inquired his colleagues and probed in the cases in which he had worked so far. Dey was working on an oil mafia article. It was being suspected that probably the oil mafia head was behind murder.

Manipur: Assault on journalists condemned

Imphal, Dec 12: The media organisations of Manipur have condemned the assault on two senior journalists of a local vernacular daily, Matamgi Yakairol, on December 10 midnight by unknown miscreants.
