Maharashtra dislikes girl child? Foetuses dumped in drain

Mumbai, Jun 11: Sometimes Indians are forced to doubt on the country's progress. Is India really developing or progressing? Well a shocking incident indeed raised the question. Nine female foetuses, which were dumped in a drain in Maharashtra's Beed district, shocked many.

However, government officials refused to accept the number as nine and informed that only two foetuses have been found. Local police have already lodged an FIR against an unknown person.

Media reports quoted a police officials as saying, "On Jun 9, we got information that a foetus was found near a river body. On Jun 10 also we found another foetus dumped at the same location. We have registered two different cases; both the foetuses were recovered from the same spot. Investigations are on."

Sources also confirmed that the two foetuses, recovered by the police, were 4-5 months old as postmortem reports unearthed the information. Beed, which always faces criticism over sex ratio issue, has 801 girls per 1000 boys, while Maharashtra's average sex number is 883 girls per 1000 boys.

Diplomat's daughter doesn't need diplomatic immunity: Lawyer

New York, May 27: Krittika Biswas, an Indian diplomat's daughter who was wrongfully arrested on the suspicion of sending obscene emails to a teacher, does not need "diplomatic immunity", her lawyer said today (May 27).

Ravi Batra said that the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations required the New York City government to inform the consulate of a signatory country if a citizen of that country had been arrested.

"The local authorities must make that communication... But nothing like that was done," Batra.....

I am all thrilled..waiting to see all the beautiful things that mommy & daddy keep on talking about..i can just hear them from inside the womb..alas!!..someone help!! help me!!..a darkness is gnawing on me..i have been put to an eternal sleep..for being born as a girl..a choice which was made by the lord...am i really the durga, sarswati or laxmi they pray to or am i just a financial burden, a social stigma..when will i have an existence when i am not allowed to exist??
