Haryana Transport minister charged of ex-pradhan murder

Karnal, June 9: The Haryana government is under bewilderment following the murder of the village 'mukhiya' in Karnal District. The ex-sarpanch or 'mukhiya' was murdered a day after he had lodged complaints against the state Transport Minister Om Parkash Jain and a chief Parliamentary secretary Jile Ram Sharma.

Karam Singh's son Rajinder Kumar said,"He had complained on Tuesday to the CM, DCP Karnal and DCP Panipat. Around 7.30 am we got a call that he has been seriously injured".

Karam singh died a day just after he lodged complaints against the two ministers to the Haryana Chief Minister and the deputy commissioners of Panipat and Karnal.

The ferociously angry villagers came out on the streets of Karnal after the ex-mukhiya's death. He was found near his village Kambopura with injury marks on his body and subsequently died in hospital, but not before he said two ministers got him poisoned.

The IG Karnal Kaamraj said that he Karam Singh was "seriously injured" but, later died in the hospital. He also confirmed that the post mortem is being done. Later the post mortem report confirmed that he was injected poison.

Call centres to help voters in Haryana

Chandigarh, May 28: Haryana will soon have call centres at state and district levels to address the various queries of voters.

A sum of Rs 45 lakh has been earmarked to implement the scheme, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Sumita Misra said on Saturday, May 28.

The service would be web-enabled so as to quickly respond to the queries and problems of the voters.

State-owned BSNL has been chosen to run these call centres, she said, adding that the telecom company would.....

Nuclear power plant work to start soon: PM

Hisar, May 19: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced that work on the nuclear power plant at Fathebad district in Haryana would start soon and described this as a step towards achieving self- sufficiency in energy. ''A site has been identified in Fatehabad district of Haryana and work for setting up a nuclear power plant there would start at the earliest," Dr Manmohan Singh said addressing a public rally at Barwala near here......
