Islamabad, Jun 6: Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that the United States government has confirmed the death of senior al-Qaeda leader Ilyas Kashmiri.
During a press conference at Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, on Monday, Jun 6, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, for the first time, officially confirmed the death of Ilyas Kashmiri in US drone attack on Friday, Jun 3.
"The US has confirmed that Ilyas Kashmiri was killed on Friday," said Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
Anyhow, Gilani refused to comment much on the matter. Citing a mobile phone video recorded by a tribesman, which showed several bodies wrapped in white sheets lying in an orchard where the missiles are said to have exploded, Paskistani officials also confirmed Ilyas Kashmiri's death.
Earlier, Pakistan's Interior Rehman Malik said that he was "98 percent sure" about the death of Ilyas Kashmiri.
"All ground intelligence shows that he is dead. What I can say is there is a 98 percent chance he is dead," said Rehman Malik.
The Jihadist group HuJi also confirmed the death news of Kashmiri. The terror outfit said that their leader Kashmiri along with some other members were killed in the US drone attack.
