Sonia offers chadar at Ajmer; Will it save from Baba?

Sonia Gandhi
Ajmer, Jun 5: While the Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and opposition parties continued to attack her for government's decision to nab Ramdev, who was on indefinite hunger strike at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, Congress President Sonia offered a 'chadar' at sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti's dargah on the occasion of the 799th urs.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot offered the chadar on behalf of Gandhi. She gave the chadar to Congress leaders yesterday along with a message which said, "Khawaja Saheb's life continues to inspire all of us.

Sonia Gandhi's message reads, "He symbolises the wonderful cultural traditions of India and the glorious secular values that have been the defining characteristic of our society. Even after so many centuries his message is still relevant and resonates powerfully."

The urs started on June 3 and will conclude on June 9. It is an annual festival held at Ajmer, Rajasthan to commemorate the death anniversary of the saint. It is celebrated in the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Thousands of pilgrims visit the place from India and abroad during the urs.

Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev slammed government and Sonia Gandhi for the brutal actions against him and his supporters. Ramdev called Sonia a ruthless leader of foreign origin. He said that Sonia can't understand the dignity of Indian woman and children as she was born in a foreign nation.

Baba Ramdev also said that he will continue the fast in Delhi or nearby place. He asked his followers to start protest countrywide.
