Amitabh Bachchan surprised by Maharashtra government's law

Amitabh Bachchan
Mumbai, Jun 4: Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is taken aback by the Maharashtra government's decision that declares increase in the age of drinking.

His recent tweet on twitter read "Also, on drinking age limit increase to 25 ! Err .. old and mature enough to vote for the country, or join army and fight for the nation ... but not old and mature enough to be told when you are allowed to drink ???? Strange ?!!!!"

His tweet shows that he supports the youngsters who feel that the new law is baseless.

According to many, when one can drive and vote at the age of 18, then one can also drink. Many others say that despite the law, no changes will come and shops will continue giving alcohol to people, no matter if one is 25 or 21.

"If one can drive or marry, why can't they drink? What kind of a law is this?" said Suresh Shetty, Manager at Deepak Bar.

"In most states excise brings in a lot of revenue. But there is also the risk of not being able to control drinking. This is what we are making an attempt to control," said Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister, Maharashtra.
