Arunachal CM, Guv congratulate Jamsenpa for scaling Everest

Itanagar, May 25: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin and Governor Gen (Retd) J J Singh today (May 25) congratulated Anshu Jamsenpa for creating a world record of scaling the Mt Everest twice in the same season.

In his congratulatory note today, Gamlin said, "you have done it. I was elated by the news of you creating a world record of scaling the Mt. Everest twice in the same season in 10 days span." Jamsenpa became the first mother in the world to make it to the summit twice in one climbing season.

"You have already become a role model for the youth of the state to emulate and I am sure, you will continue to put your best foot forward and bring many more laurels to our state. We are proud of you," Gamlin pointed out.

The Governor Singh, in a separate message, hailed Jamsenpa for carving a niche in the mountaineering history.

Jamsenmpa and Tine Mena, who also scaled the world's highest peak on May 9, are the living testimonies of energy and stamina of Northeast people," the Governor said in a message.

The newl Tourism Minister Pema Khandu, son of late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, also complimented the two lady mountaineers for the feat.

Khandu particularly took note of the fact that Jamsenpa also created a world record by being the first mother to scale Mt. Everest twice in a season.

15,000 people affected by floods in Tripura

Agartala, Jul 22: Almost 15,000 people have been affected due to inundation of low-lying habitations and agricultural lands in South Tripura following incessant rains across the state during last 24 hours.
