Official: Windows 8 arriving in 2012

Tokyo, May 24: Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced that the new version of Windows 8 operating system will be available in 2012.

Cracking the million rumors hovering around the web, software giant Microsoft's head revealed company's plan to float the new version of the world's popular operating system Windows. Anyhow, Steve Ballmer didn't reveal any more details regarding the new features on Windows 8.

Speaking to developers at Microsoft Developer Forum in Tokyo on Monday, May 23, Ballmer said Microsoft is "obviously hard at work on the next version of Windows."

"As we look forward to the next generation of Windows systems, which will come out next year, there's a whole lot more coming. As we progress through the year, you ought to expect to hear a lot about Windows 8. Windows 8 slates, tablets, PCs, a variety of different form factors."

Citing Ballmer's speech, various technology blogs reported certain new features for Windows 8. The prominent one is the wave, gesture and touch recognition on computers, like the Kinet games. The Windows 8 may be able to recognize users through their actions or gestures. That means users can control their computer with the gestures or actions!
