Poisoning kills four family members in Maharashtra

Sangli, May 23: Four persons of a family died due to suspected food poisoning at Biranwadi village, 22 km from Tasgaon town in the district, police said on Sunday, May 23.

The deaths occurred on Saturday, May 22, during a family function.

Deceased have been identified as Ajay Arvind More 16-year-old, Sonam Pratap Amte 15,-year-old, Yashoda Mahadev More 70-year-old, and Niwas Mahadev More 45-year-old.

Four others have been admitted to the Sangli Civil Hospital in a critical condition.

Bird flu spreads to new areas in Assam

Kamrup (Assam), Dec 6: With a fresh outbreak of bird flu in poultry being detected in Assam, authorities are prepared to start the culling of thousands of chickens.Reports say the virus has spread to the districts of Barpeta and Nalbari from Hajo in Kamrup District, where it was first reported. Samples were sent to laboratories in Bhopal and have tested positive for H5N1 avian influenza.The State Government has ordered culling operations and culling officers have already started going.....
