Egypt: Policeman sentenced to death for protestors' killing

The sentence raised the stakes for other security officials charged with having a role in killing protesters, including the former Interior Minister Habib al-Adli, who has already been sentenced to 12 years in prison for graft.

Mubarak stepped down on Feb 11 and transferred power to the military council, after 18 days of a popular uprising.

He has been held in custody in a hospital since April, 2011, over allegations of killings of protesters and corruption.

At least 846 people were killed during the protest, reports said.

Cairo, May 12: Hundreds of Egyptian Muslims and Christians fought and hurled bricks at each other in clashes today south of Cairo in a dispute over building a church that erupted after Muslim prayers, security sources said. At least 10 Christians were injured in the clashes that broke out in the village of Behma, about 60 km from the Egyptian capital, and four Christian shops were set on fire before police quelled the violence, the sources.....

New York, July 5: Al Qaeda's No. 2 commander appeared in a new video on a Web site used by Islamist militant groups, urging unity in jihad and calling for the overthrow of ''corrupt'' Muslim governments in the region.The English version of the title posted on the site was ''The Advice of One Concerned'' and the video showed the Egyptian cleric Ayman al-Zawahri wearing a white robe, speaking in Arabic with English sub-titles......
