Bandh hits normal life in Tripura

Agartala, May 23: Normal life was paralysed in Tripura on Monday, May 23, in response to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by National Student Union of India (NSUI) and opposition Congress to protest against attack against activists and leaders of NSUI.

Schools, colleges and all educational institutions were closed, shops downed shutters, markets remained closed and vehicles did not ply on the roads.

Banks and financial organizations were closed, attendances in government offices and Civil Secretariats were thin.

Police said no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state so far and at least six activists of NSUI, including the President of the organization, Vicky Prasad were injured at Maharaja Bir Bikram College here on Saturday, May 21, when the activists of SFI attacked them.

Six injured activists were admitted to Gobinda Ballav Pant hospital here and the doctor referred Prasad to Kolkata as his injuries were fatal and was admitted to Apollo hospital there.
