
Hazaribagh, May 20: One policeman was wounded in an encounter between the Maoists and the security forces in the forests of Chouparan of Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district.
Police said the gun-battle took place during anti-naxal operation in the jungles of Chouparan bordering Bihar.
The security forces were conducting raids at various places in the state ahead of 48-hours 'Bharat bandh' called by Maoists starting on Thursday, May 19, midnight.
The Maoists called the nation-wide bandh in protest against arrest of three senior cadre, firing on farmers in Uttar Pradesh and anti-encroachment drive in Jharkhand.
