K'taka: Is it Yeddyurappa's time to go; election on cards?

BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, May 14: It seems that BJP's ruling government may soon see the exit door as re-election is on the cards for the state as well as present Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa.

In a major blow to the ruling BJP in Karnataka, the Supreme Court on Friday, May 13 quashed Assembly Speaker's decision to disqualify 16 MLAs ahead of the no confidence motion in 2010 which had ensured survival of the Yeddyurappa government.

However, Yeddyurappa rejected to accept any defeat or threat on his ruling government as he deliberately informed, "I will honour the Supreme Court verdict. The MLAs have been informed about the Monday session and they should be there."

BJP MLA Balachandran Jarkiwade said, "The Speaker of Karnataka and the Chief Minister had dismissed us illegally. The court has scrapped this, we kept our faith in the judiciary and we are very happy with the verdict."

Now, when Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal have seen massive changes in its ruling government, is it time for Karnataka to experience a change.

Experts started speculating that with the Supreme Court's recent verdict, the state may soon hold re-election. It seems that without the support of the rebel-MLAs, it will be really tough for Yeddyurappa to revamp his reign if the state indeed conducts a re-poll.
