Vote for Cong to continue progress of UT: Narayanasamy

Puducherry, Mar 19: Union Minister of State in Parliamentary Affairs and Prime Minister's Office V Narayanasamy today said Central funds for development of Puducherry would be available copiously if a Congress-led government wins a successive term in office in the Apr 13 assembly polls in the Union Territory.

Addressing a Congress public meeting at Periyakalapet near here yesterday, Narayanasamy said that the Puducherry had registered impressive progress in education and poverty alleviation programmes due to the practical planning by the present V Vaithilingam-led Congress government and with the help of hefty allocations of funds by the UPA government at the Centre.

"Puducherry will continue to make progress only if the Congress-led government (retains power) in the Union territory and funds from the Centre would continue for the development schemes", Narayanasamy said.

Congress is fighting the elections in a coalition with DMK, as in Tamil Nadu.

Congress-DMK seat-sharing stalemate talk extends

Chennai, Mar 3: The stalemate in seat sharing talks between DMK and Congress for the Apr 13 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu persisted with AICC president Sonia Gandhi's special emissary Ghulam Nabi Azad leaving for New Delhi on Thursday, Mar 3 after his inconclusive talks with DMK chief M Karunanidhi.The scheduled meeting between Karunanidhi and Azad this morning was cancelled with the Congress leader deciding to rush to New Delhi.Before his departure, Azad told reporters at the airport.....
