Mumbai, Mar 9: Aiming to expand the 3G services to all 13 circle areas in India, the largest mobile service provider in the country, Airtel, announced the launch of 3G services in Mumbai.
Airtel commenced the 3G services in Mumbai following the launches in New Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Airtel officials said that the company has added up to 6 lakh 3G subscribers since the launch of services in Jan 2011 end. Airtel plans to extend 3G services to 40 cities across the country by Mar-end.
"We have acquired 5-6 lakh 3G subscribers. We are witnessing a good data usage of over 1 terabyte per day from a single city," Airtel President for Mobile Services, Atul Bindal, said after launching 3G service in Mumbai.
The existing customers can avail 3G services through special top recharges. The 3G service will offer high speed internet, downloading and video call features on mobile phones. Airtel introduced various 3G data plans, where the users can select according to their usage.

* Rs 675 - 1.25 GB - 30 Days
