Teenage would-be suicide apprehended in northwest Pak

Peshawar, Feb 18 (PTI) A teenage would-be suicidebomber was today apprehended in the restive Swat district ofnorthwest Pakistan while a security personnel was killed whenmilitants attacked a security check post in the volatiletribal belt, officials said.

The would-be bomber told troops who captured him thathe intended to attack a mosque in Ningolai area of Swatdistrict.

Ningolai is part of Matta sub-division, which was astronghold of the local Taliban till the government sent thearmy into Swat to flush out rebels nearly two years ago.

In a separate incident, a Frontier Corps personnel waskilled and four others were injured when militants attacked asecurity check post at Ghanam Shah in the Mohmand tribalregion, officials said.

The rebels targeted the post with mortars, they said.

Police also arrested 10 militants in Mardan districtof Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and seized suicide vests fromtheir possession, DIG Abdullah Khan told the media.

In yet another development, troops demolished thehomes of three absconding militants Bajaur tribal region afterthey failed to surrender to local authorities.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Nabi Hanfi, the Taliban spokesmanfor Kohat region in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, told reporters onphone from an undisclosed location that some militantsarrested in Ghor Zandai area had no connection with his group.

Hanfi also denied that his group was involved in therecent killing of two officials of MOL Pakistan Oil and GasCompany and four paramilitary personnel in Dar Malik area ofKohat district.
