Delhi BJP Chief Vijender Gupta said he has sent aletter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram demanding a probeinto the alleged "irregularities" in a contract awarded bythe DSIIDC to a firm to oversee the renovation work of nearly200 city schools for a fee of nearly Rs 25 crore.
Officials of Government''s infrastructure developmentbody DSIIDC (Delhi State Industrial And InfrastructureDevelopment Corporation) which awarded the consultancy work tothe firm completely rejected the allegations as "baseless" andsaid all due procedures were followed in giving the contract.
"There is no substance in the allegations. Theallegations are completely baseless. We followed all theprocedures in awarding the contract," they said.
Gupta alleged that procedures were flouted and thefirm was favoured "only because a relative of Chief MinisterSheila Dikshit is an employee of the firm."
"There should be a thorough probe into theirregularities," he demanded.
