New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) With the arrest of three persons,police today claimed to have smashed a gang of autolifters andrecovered 10 stolen motorcycles from them.
21-year-old Loknath, along with Ramniwas alias Ballan,was arrested on Sunday last after getting inputs that a gangwas active in Dwarka locality and its members were going toMathura in Uttar Pradesh with a stolen motorcycle to sell it.
After being stopped near Dwarka underpass, they wereasked to produce the papers, but they could not, so both ofthem were arrested, a senior police official said.
During interrogation, Loknath said he had stolen themotorcycle a few days earlier from Najafgarh area and hehad called Ballan from UP and both of them were headingtowards Mathura for selling it.
Loknath said that he along with one Rajesh and Mahenderalias Chela used to commit theft of motorcycles in variousparts of Delhi and sell them to Ballan of Mathura and onePramod of Agra.
The accused revealed that they had sold motorcycles inMathura, Agra and Gwalior.
A police team then conducted raids in Mathura, Agra andother places in UP and arrested Pramod. Four stolenmotorcycles were also recovered.
Four other motorcycles were recovered from Mathura onthe instance of Ballan while Loknath provided the informationabout one more stolen motorcycle, which was recovered fromChhawla area.
Police has sent a team to various places in UttarPradesh and Madhya Pradesh to search for abscondingautolifters Rajesh and Mahender and remaining motorcycles aswell as other receivers, the official said.
According to police, Parmod is a history sheeter ofSikandara area of Agra district and had been involved in anumber of cases of dacoity, robbery, thefts and a murder. PTISMJ
