Chandigarh, Jan 30 (PTI) The Haryana government todayannounced five awards, carrying Rs one lakh each, for seniorcitizens in the state.

This was announced by Social Welfare Minister GeetaBhukkal at a function at Jhajjar, an official spokesman saidhere.

The senior citizens will be honoured with Ranbir SinghCentenarian Award, Mother Teresa Award, Sardar Ballab BhaiPatel Courage and Bravery Award, Mahatma Jyotiba Fulley LifeTime Achievement Award and Mahatma Gandhi Panchayat Award. PTIVJ RKC

Chandigarh formulates Medical Tourism plan

Massive plantation undertaken in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, July 27: To cover the ''City Beautiful'' with greenery and maintain its environment, a massive plantation drive has been undertaken by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. The corporation has planned to plant 5570 trees, 5119 shrubs and 535 climbers along roads, parks, green belts, rehabilitation colonies at City Center Sector 17, Manimajra Complex and Dadumajra dumping grounds during the rainy season. MDU, US varsity to set up joint research centre

Chandigarh, July 26: A delegation from the US-based George Washington University visited Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, to explore possibilities of setting up a joint research centre in frontier areas of Bio-informatics and Systems Biology and work out possibilities of joint studies and research.
