Crime
Malegaon, Jan 25: In what can be termed gruesome and barbaric, and above all a shameful day especially for the justice department, the Additional District Collector of Malegaon in Maharashtra Yashwant Sonavane was reportedly burnt alive. The victim, Sonavane was on official duty and was conducting a raid on black marketeers of petrol when he was attacked by six or seven people and then set on fire.

This barbaric act was the handiwork of people involved in the black marketing of petrol and diesel. As soon as the crime was committed, the assailants fled the spot. Police are stepping up efforts to nab the perpetrators of this heinous crime. He had conducted a surprise raid on the kerosene mafia and is suspected to have taken place about 10 kms from Malegaon in Maharashtra's Nashik district.
