Mumbai: Massive fire envelops Indian Oil depot

Mumbai, Jan 18: Once again Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) depot came under the engulfment of a massive fire and this time the accident happened in Navy Mumbai.

Twenty fire engines rushed to the accident place after receiving the fire alert at around 2 am on Jan 17. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

According the sources, the fire emerged in containers that were holding lubricant oil and the officials are now afraid that if the fire spreads, it will envelop large tanks holding diesel which have been kept just 50 metres away.

This is not the first time that such accident happened in Indian Oil Corporation's depots. In 2009, similar kind of incident was reported in Jaipur in which at least 10 people were dead and more than hundred were injured.

Japan shuts units at top nuke plant after quake

Tokyo, July 16: Tokyo Electric Power Co has shut down three major generators at the world's biggest nuclear power plant after today's powerful earthquake in Japan caused a brief fire in one of the units, company officials said. The company, Asia's biggest utility, said there there was no radiation leakage at the facility after a fire hit a transformer at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa No 3 nuclear generation unit.
