Nuclear war: Iran snubs US, invites Russia, China

Iran flag
Washington, Jan 4: Iran invited several nations like Russia, China, who all are part of European Union, to view its (Iran's) nuclear facilities, though the nation snubbed United States.

Iran's invitation, which is believed to divide the alliance of nations opposed to Iran's nuclear ambitions, has been rejected by the United States. However, States spokesperson, PJ Crowley on Monday, Jan 3 informed, "There's no invitation in our in-box."

"It's (invitation) a clever ploy, but it's not a substitute for Iran's responsibilities to the IAEA. It won't draw international attention away from the issues regarding Iran's nuclear programme," added Crowley.

The new round between Tehran, and the permanent UN Security Council members, ie US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany is expected to set for Istanbul, Turkey in late Jan 2011.

Iran attended a 2-day meeting on nuclear talks with the United States and other countries in Geneva in Dec 2010, but the meeting failed to be productive.

"The atmosphere was frosty," stated diplomats who took part in the meeting and the diplomats also informed that there was no separate meeting between the American and Iranian representatives.
