New Delhi, Dec 30: The disputed Krishna water sharing issue has been finally decided. The conflict has been in existence since the last 43 years as the Krishna River passes through the three states.
The key points of the judgment are -
The Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal was set up on April 2, 2004. The reaction of the state representatives were mixed in nature.

The conflict involving three states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra has been settled. Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal delivered its landmark judgment on Thursday, Dec 30.

Andhra Pradesh will receive the biggest share of the water available, followed by Karnataka and then Maharashtra.The key points of the judgment are -
- Andhra Pradesh to get 1001 tmc ft of water, Karnataka to get 911 tmc ft of water and Maharashtra to get 666 tmc ft of water
- The water cannot be diverted for any other purpose
- Karnataka allowed to increase the height of the Almatti dam. The move could decrease water woes in the region.

Actually this distribution lacks simple wisdom.More water is to be stored in deeper state which means flood is allowed to disturb all 3 states.If there is famine in higher state water cannot be used.Actually it should have been in reverse way.If more water was stored in Maharashtra,both these problems would have gone.Moreover water flow would have managed & electricity would have produced.
