World's most expensive ale made with melted Antarctic ice

Melbourne, Nov 30 (ANI): The creator of the world's most expensive ale has revealed that he brewed it using melted Antarctic ice.

John Stallwood, 40, who runs Perth-based Nail Brewery, sold a bottle of limited edition Antarctic Nail Ale for 800 dollars at an auction benefiting the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

The sale earned it the new Guinness record for the Most Expensive Beer Produced in Modern Times, but Stallwood broke it after he sold another bottle for 1,850 dollars on Bondi Beach.

Stallwood was asked what inspired him to create Antarctic Nail Ale, and he revealed that his brother-in-law Kevin McGinty is crew on the Sea Shepherd (the direct action sea-life protection ship that prowls Antarctica).

"I'm always looking at new ideas. Small breweries have little advertising budget - especially me - so we rely on publicity. Most publicity comes with awards, or if you can think of a good idea," the Age quoted him as saying.

"Every step was a challenge. Probably getting ice from Antarctica was the hardest.

"My brother-in-law, Kevin McGinty, and his team flew the helicopter to a giant iceberg and dug a hole. They then melted it down back in Tasmania and brought it to Perth," he stated.

He also added that he had a small budget and was lucky enough to have a lot of people putting in their free time. (ANI)
